Lived Experience

Lived experience is at the heart of everything that Scotty's do, and we listen continuously to what our community tell us about how we can have an impact on their lives. Fundamental to helping us influence change is our Youth Council and Lived Experience Adult Advisory Group.

We work with hundreds of bereaved military families to ensure we are developing the services which matter most.

Scotty's Adult Lived Experience Advisory Board

At Scotty's we recognise that everything we do should be shaped by the experiences of the Military Bereaved Community, and our advisory board is integral to making sure that happens. The group ensures that the lived experience of the Military Bereaved Community shapes the services and support that Scotty's offers, as well as having empowered members who can have an impact on the wider community and issues that affect them. The group has a really broad range of experiences within the community that ensures we are considering a diverse range of views. We meet online every other month.

Scotty's Youth Council

At Scotty's our Youth Council have been helping us ensure young people's lived experience is at the heart of everything we do. Not only do they help shape our services for children and young people, they speak up and influence on the things that matter most to military bereaved children and young people. The council bring a wide range of experience and range in age from 16–25. They get involved in being an ambassador for Scotty's and really making a difference to others. The meetings are mostly online, but with some in person meet ups and opportunities to come together throughout the year.

Our board of trustees

Scotty's is led day-to-day by CEO Stuart Robinson, Founder Nikki, and our Senior Leadership Team, and overseen by a board of trustees who hold the charity accountable. Meet our trustees.
