Scotty's — The Military Bereavement Charity

Our Story

How Scotty's help shape a more positive future for the bereaved military community

Scotty's has spent more than fifteen years working alongside hundreds of bereaved military families, every day. We have lived experience at the heart of the charity and listen continuously to what families tell us about how we can improve our services.

Nikki and her husband, Corporal Lee Scott

Our Origin Story

In 2009, Nikki Scott's husband, Corporal Lee Scott, was killed in action in Afghanistan. She had to tell her five-year-old son his dad wasn't coming home, and her seven-month-old daughter would grow up with no memories of him at all.

Nine months later, on a family holiday, Nikki saw her son laughing and playing for the first time since his dad's death — and started thinking about all the other children living through the same loss. In 2010, she founded Scotty's.
